Origin – About the product
Although cultivated by the Incas more or less 7,000 years ago, this cereal or pseudo cereal grows in the high Andes, between 2,500 and 5,000 meters. It was used also in ceremonial activities where the Inca used to sow the seeds.
Our Quinoa is grown in the Andean highlands of the Sierra, also on the coast of Peru, in ideal locations, which makes these tiny seeds rich in proteins. Quinoa is a low-calorie, gluten-free, high-protein grain that tastes great and is also a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus. It is high in magnesium, iron and also calcium. We call our quinoa “nature’s complete super-food” because it is packed with wholesome nutritional value. Our Quinoa helps in controlling diabetes, blood pressure and balancing cholesterol levels.
In Peru there are more than 20 varieties and most commercialized are the White (White Juli, INIA Salcedo, Hualhuas, etc.), Red (Pasankalla) and Black (Ccoito, Kollana).
Red quinoa is also rich in essential minerals and vitamins and has no gluten. Black Quinoa is one of the treasures left by our Inca ancestors. This wonderful food is from the shores of Lake Titicaca in Puno. The reason is that black quinoa contains lithium which is a regulator of depression. This variety has the quality to calm down. For all these properties it is considered an essential nourishment of every woman to regulate the hormonal level. It is considered in the daily diet. This product provides protein and essential fatty acids and also has no cholesterol. In 100 grams of black quinoa there are 35 grams of protein. Quinoa has more amino acids products like wheat. Packing and product Presentations
Presentation can be in grains, flakes, extruded, cooked & dehydrated, pop´s or flour. Grain comes in three quinoa colors available: white, red and black.
Packaging is normally in 25 or 50 kilograms 3 ply paper, or in retail package according to client´s needs.
