Origin – About the product
Known as one of the most ancient lost crops of the Andes, maca is a native plant to the high Andes of Peru, found at the Meseta of BomBom. It is a radish-like root vegetable and is commonly associated to the potato family. Born in the highlands of Peru at altitudes around 7,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level, it is considered the Peruvian Ginseng.
Health Benefits
Among the health benefits of maca, different test and studies concluded that it can increase energy, libido and fertility, as well as improve hormone balance, delay aging, gives more strength to the immune system and reduce depression.
Uses – Usage
Normally maca can be taken as maca powder and added to yogurts, salads, baked goods, juices, smoothies and soups. You can find them also in gelatinized maca capsules, liquid, extracts and mixed with cocoa and other Andean grains. Maca is mainly grown for the nutritional and health value of its roots.
