ORGANIC CANIHUA

Scientific Name:        Chenopodium pallidicaule
Family:                       Chenopodiaceae Common
Common names:       Cañihua / Canihua / Cañahua / Qañihua

It has a high protein content (15-19%) and proportion of sulfur amino acids. Unlike the quinoa, cañihua does not have saponins, what ease of use. The traditional and most common use is in the form of slightly roasted and ground grains, resulting in a nice meal, called canihuaco.

Description

Origin

Cañihua is originally from the highlands of Peru and Bolivia.

The cultivation of this incredible grain is related to the Tiahuanaco pre-Inca culture. It was prohibited by the Spanish conquistadors due to the fact that it was used in rituals and ceremonies, since the products offered to various deities. However it has still being preserved and cultivated until today.

Health benefits

It has high rates of nutrients and medicinal properties. Rich in protein (almost 20% for each 100 grams), calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin E, B complex, iron, omega 6 and 9; they are also gluten-free and are low in fat. Has the necessary to regulate the intestinal function and easy to digest.

Uses – Usage

It can be consumed by cooking boiled and add what you like best as a garnish or in salads.

It is used also in flour for those who are allergic to gluten.

Energizing effective and high enzyme content helps revitalize our body against aging.

You can used in powder and mixed with milk, juice or yogurts.

In the form of porridge is a great food becoming in super baby food who are over 6 months old. It doesn’t contains saponins and can be used for a lot of purpose, like bread, salads, noodles or pastry making

Packaging is normally in 25 or 50 kilograms 3 ply paper / polyethylene bags or in retail package according to client´s needs.
