Description
Origin
Cañihua is originally from the highlands of Peru and Bolivia.
The cultivation of this incredible grain is related to the Tiahuanaco pre-Inca culture. It was prohibited by the Spanish conquistadors due to the fact that it was used in rituals and ceremonies, since the products offered to various deities. However it has still being preserved and cultivated until today.

It has high rates of nutrients and medicinal properties. Rich in protein (almost 20% for each 100 grams), calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin E, B complex, iron, omega 6 and 9; they are also gluten-free and are low in fat. Has the necessary to regulate the intestinal function and easy to digest.
Uses – Usage
It can be consumed by cooking boiled and add what you like best as a garnish or in salads.
It is used also in flour for those who are allergic to gluten.
